Sadaf Seyed

Sadaf Seyed (b. 1996) is a Tehran-based artist who earned her BA in Painting from the University of Art and later completed her MA at Sooreh University in Tehran, Iran. Her work was presented in the KHOR Artists Group exhibition in 2022, followed by her first solo exhibition, *Titanium White*, at SARAI Gallery in 2023. Although still early in her career, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions and art events both in Iran and internationally, including in Chicago, Miami, and Dubai.

Seyed's artistic practice initially centered on figurative painting, where she examined the interplay of light and shadow. Over time, this exploration developed into a personal visual language defined by simplified compositions, geometric forms, and a restrained color palette, while drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of traditional Iranian painting. This evolution has enabled her to address a wide range of conceptual themes. In her solo exhibition *Titanium White*, she investigated the material and philosophical dimensions of light and darkness, reflecting on ideas of hope alongside the feelings of alienation and uncertainty that characterize contemporary life. Her most recent body of work, *Scarlet Red*, continues this dialogue by incorporating references to Persian miniature painting. Through the expressive use of light and shadow, the series reexamines the traditional representation of love in Iranian visual culture and places it in conversation with contemporary understandings of the subject.
